Bilstein 8112 Shocks Review

If there’s one 2nd gen Tundra that needs the beefiest suspension on the market, it could be Buzz’s Tundra. Buzz can be seen around all the socal desert spots, Big Bear, and of course Mammoth Lakes, his stomping grounds when the winter hits and the fresh powder dumps. First day was a dream, exactly what i expected, super soft... but stiff in the right places Suspension Journey The Tundra reportedly wasn’t stock for long, the first suspension upgrade the Tundra saw was a spacer lift on the stock strut. But spacers dont improve performance. Needing more damping required a real...

Washboards and Deep Snow. Testing the Limits of Our Daily Driver and Power Wagon

You can’t find the limits if you don’t push them, right? Taking advantage of the free dispersed camping available via the Bureau of Land Management is pretty easy in a high clearance vehicle like a truck or SUV, but what about a passenger car? And what if that car is lowered on Eibach springs? Ridiculous or genius? Well I was determined to find out as I headed North along the gorgeous Highway 395 from Los Angeles to Reno in my Civic hatchback. I was set to explore the snow covered terrain in the Tahoe National Forest with Sean in his...

Bilstein 8100 First Impressions and Wrangler Review

Its just not fair to compare the Bilstein 8100 external bypass shocks against the previous setups on this 2019 Jeep Wrangler JLU, but we’re going to do it anyways. Suspension Timeline This JLU has previously seen the stock suspension, then the Rock Sport shocks from Metal Cloak when the 3.5” lift kit was installed. After about 10k miles with the base lift kit, Fox 2.0 IFP shocks were installed, which improved offroad performance significantly in terms of taking harder hits and bottom out resistance in the faster terrain. After Fox, we had to pit the King 2.0 head to head...

Exploring Monache Meadows

New shocks call for new terrain! After a fresh suspension install, we love jamming out of town to hit the dirt and climb some mountains to evaluate the changes in the vehicle’s ride control. After visiting Los Angeles for a week, it was time to bounce up north and find somewhere to run the Old Man Emu BP-51 shocks. Somewhere mountainous and forested was preferable, crisp morning air to recharge the battery. After staying around Kennedy Meadows on night one, we accidentally happened across the Monache Meadows trail area and figured we’d head up to hunt for the next camp...

Exploring Trona Pinnacles

It’s mid-June and we are stir crazy from being locked indoors for the quarantine. Some of the restrictions have finally been lifted so we decided to hop in the Jeep JLU Rubicon and head out for some adventure. Trona Pinnacles is approximately 3 hours from our home base in LA so we thought it was the perfect spot for a day mission to get out and explore. The drive up to Trona is split into two parts. The first part is a 2 hour straight shot up Hwy 395. This is followed by a dirt road comprised of about 25...
