Ride Review - Rancho RS7000MT - Jeep Wrangler JLU Rubicon

The Shock Surplus team decided to mix things up on the Wrangler JLU Rubicon. You might be wondering, why take off the Bilstein 8100s with External Bypass and Ride Adjustment? Lets dive in and get reacquainted with our mission. Its not always about running the best, otherwise our rigs would all have 2.5 or 3.0 shocks with kitted-out suspensions. This truck came equipped with factory Bilstein shocks, specifically ones equivalent to the 4600...

Ride Report: 2021 Silverado 1500 Z71

Time for Something New The odometer on my Tacoma has been climbing. All those miles using the truck to take me to and from work everyday, towing the CanAm, and hitting the trails on the weekend are beginning to take their toll on the old trusty Toyota. It was when I found out that I have a new baby on the way that I decided that I not only needed a newer, larger truck, but one that was also more comfortable, more apt to handle towing duties, and also be a bit more fuel efficient. I took a few months...

New Jeep Wrangler JL Suspension & Shock Buyers Guide
As you can see, from Sport to Sahara to Rubicon, the shock absorbers gradually increase in capabilities. A monotube shock is an upgrade over a twin tube shock, there are less moving parts, there is a larger active piston for more consistent damping, and heat dissipation is better as the oil in the shock is in direct contact with the body, and the body will shed heat better than two bodies.
